Move: NY to CA

On my move from NY to CA six months ago, I was totally scammed by Atraf Moving and Storage, who picked up my things in NY,and who then hooked up with Express Limited to do my actual delivery, which was also a nightmare - it was my own fault, I didn't do the research, and I certainly didn't know about this site.

When things in CA didn't work out for me and I decided to come home to NY, you folks here steered me away from two really bad movers (World Moving was one of them - I forget the other one, I've since thrown out their literature), and sent me to the Moovers Inc. thread. THANK YOU! These guys were wonderful, so kind, so nice, and they were everything that you could want.

On top of it all, they turned out to be the cheapest of the several movers I was recommended to check into! They arrived on time to pick up my things, very gently packed up my furniture, and stayed in touch the whole time they were on the road. The guys who picked up my things in CA (in this case Patrick and Cliff, who were great!) were the same guys who delivered them in NY (actually, it was Patrick on his own doing the delivery, with a smile on his face the whole time). They arrived on time, the day they said they would, and there was not a thing damaged or missing. And since I live on my own, Patrick even helped me put my bed together.

The payment was easy - they don't take any deposit, but they require a certified check or money order when they bring you your things. My opinion is that they really take a chance doing that, but it really did gain my trust in a big way (the first movers when I left NY showed up, doubled the price on me and demanded payment right there - nothing I could do since I was flying to CA the next day and they knew it).

It took a bit of juggling since they just added their truck to the east coast, but my timing was good, and very lucky in this case. If you have to move cross country, I highly recommend these guys! It was the total opposite of my first move - completely stress free!
