Move: CA to DC

I just finished an SF-DC move with Moovers, and they were fantastic.

To begin with, once I found out -- on this website -- that Delancey does cross-country moves, and that Moovers is run by Delancey graduates, that was it - they were the only ones I was going to approach for the move. I just wanted a straightforward move, very few hassles.

Jayson from Moovers showed up for the estimate, gave me a binding estimate that beat out Delancey by a couple hundred bucks (he made me promise to get rid of some of my many books, which I did), and I signed on.

Jayson was really helpful pre-move. He had given me his cell phone #, and was totally accessible when I called him with last-minute questions about whether I needed to box certain things (microwave, tv, etc).

The 2 guys who showed up to move me, Patrick and Clint, were nice & efficient. One of them even boxed up my big pieces of art, since I couldn't figure out how to use those picture boxes. And they very carefully packed up a harp for me -- in one of their wardrobe boxes.

They said they'd deliver in DC either Feb. 7th or Feb. 8th. The driver, Patrick, gave me his cell phone # before they left, so I could call if need be. He then called around the 5th/6th to let me know they'd arrive Feb. 8th. They did, right on time, and Patrick figured out a great solution to a tough parking problem (I had arrived in DC too late to reserve parking for his van on the very busy street).

The guys were great, moved me in quickly and with good cheer, and at the end, even moved a few of my things to a basment storage unit. Patrick was a true professional in supervising the whole thing.

Not one thing was damaged or broken or lost.

I also never worried about my stuff during the move. It was a total peace-of-mind move the likes of which I have never before experienced.

(And it cost less than renting a U-Haul would have! U-Haul from SF to DC was $2,500 for a small rental truck alone; Moovers did my move for around $2,400 -- jr. 1-BR, packed -- mostly -- by me).
